Iain specialises in real estate finance, acting predominantly for lenders in the financing and restructuring areas. He also represents real estate investors, developers and corporate end users, both domestic and international.  He has also recently written articles and spoken at conferences on distressed real estate debt.

Experience
  • Advised Nationwide Building Society in connection with various facilities including as lead arranger for the provision of £196 million of interim debt secured on the site of the proposed 'Shard of Glass' development in London
  • Advised an overseas investor in relation to its acquisition of a major Central London hotel (the largest ever single asset European hotel deal)
  • Advised overseas investor landlords in connection with the restructuring of land interests relating to around fifty Care Homes operated by the Southern Cross group of companies
  • Advised various lenders in connection with strategies for enforcement or restructuring of non-performing real estate loans
  • Led the team advising a Spanish investment fund in connection with the English Law aspects of a global corporate restructuring
