Lawrence Graham advises on £54m law firm acquisition
International business law firm Lawrence Graham LLP (LG) has advised Australian lawyers Slater & Gordon, the world's first publicly-listed law firm, on its acquisition of UK law firm Russell Jones & Walker for £54 million.
The transaction finalised on 30th April 2012 following the grant of an Alternative Business Structure (ABS) licence – made possible by the recent reforms of the legal services market which have liberalised law firm ownership restrictions.
Head of Corporate Christopher Tite and partner David Ponsford led the LG team on the deal.
Christopher Tite said: "We are delighted to have represented Slater & Gordon on this milestone transaction, which marks its first step into the UK legal market and sees it taking advantage of the significant changes which are happening in the UK legal profession."
