LG advises international forestry investment company on $126 million placement
International business law firm Lawrence Graham LLP ("LG") has advised The Forest Company Limited ("The Forest Company") in relation to its second private placement of $126 million.
The Forest Company is a Guernsey incorporated investment company established to provide shareholders with capital growth combined with a low risk profile through investing in new plantations, trees, timberland and timber related assets globally.
The funds raised from this investment will be deployed in expanding the company's current forest investments in Brazil, where the company supplies the expanding forest and paper products industry.
The LG Investment Funds team advising The Forest Company was led by Corporate partner John Reed.
Reed said: "The success of this fund raising in the face of challenging global market conditions continues to validate the strength of The Forest Company's management team and business strategy, which continues to prove attractive for the long-term institutional investors who form the core of the company's shareholder base. We look forward to working with the company in relation to its intended flotation in the near future".
LG previously advised The Forest Company on its establishment and pre-IPO fundraising of $50 million in March 2008, bringing the total capital raised to date to $176 million.
