LG recruits partner Iain Shurwood to its Finance practice
Lawrence Graham LLP ("LG") has recruited finance partner Iain Shurwood from Squire Sanders Hammonds.
Iain will join LG's 36-strong Finance practice group by the end of October. He will be the seventh partner in the group whose turnover increased by 38 per cent last year following appointments to bank panels including Santander plc, Dunbar Bank plc and Nationwide Building Society.
Iain joined Squire Sanders Hammonds from Denton Wilde Sapte in August 2008 and is known for his work in acquisition finance, corporate lending and workouts. He recently advised HSBC on several transactions, including in its provision of development loan facilities to the Jamie Oliver Restaurant Group.
He has also advised on numerous cross-border transactions including in relation to the acquisition of SLI Sylvania by Havells of India and for the senior lenders on the $1 billion acquisition of Pan-African Energy.
Iain Shurwood said "I am delighted to be joining the Finance group at LG and I am looking forward to working with the team. LG is an excellent firm and I believe we have an great opportunity to continue to develop the group."
Nick Turner, head of Banking, LG, said: "We are very much growing the finance practice generally at the moment. Iain's hire is designed to push us into more corporate banking work, get us acting for the lenders, and grow our corporate banking portfolio. We have not been over-exposed as a practice to the financial crisis, so we are now looking to take advantage of that by investing."
