In order to support your continued development, we have identified the core skills and competencies that will enable you to become more effective at managing your practice, your teams and your profile.

Initially, as a trainee, you will focus on developing your technical skills and knowledge. (For further information on becoming a trainee at LG please visit the graduate website.)

Once qualified, we also expect you to expand your management and business development skills, keep up to date with firm issues and initiatives, and develop a broader understanding of the wider business context in which clients perform. As your career progresses to senior associate you will take a more active role in leading teams, nurturing client relationships and accounting for financial performance.

On-the-job training is the cornerstone of your development and each practice group provides a range of training courses and updates relevant to that group's requirement.

Firmwide we offer a comprehensive programme of management development, risk management and business skills workshops for lawyers at different levels of experience. These range from networking and communication skills at a junior level through to year-long development programmes for both experienced associate and partner groups.
